Driving Tips
Don’t worry: the car is not the enemy of our environment. We’re not asking you to ditch it altogether, but we do have some tips for greening your driving:
Carpool! Carpooling gives you a chance to get to know your colleagues, friends or neighbours better. And you never know, you just might meet the girl/guy of your dreams too!
Drive efficiently. Make a conscious effort to be an efficient driver.
Woah! Before starting the engines, are you sure you know what route you’re going to take? We mean the shortest one. Why would you waste time, petrol and emissions trying to get there by instinct? Admit defeat and get out the map.
Similarly, figure out where you go and when you use your car in an average week. Make sure each trip is really necessary. Try combining several trips into one. Try taking public transport at least once a week.
Idling is a killer. Literally. If you can’t afford a hybrid car yet, then please don’t keep the engines running while waiting for whoever or whatever that’s keeping you waiting.
Make your next car small, simple and efficient. Do you really need that 4WD in the city?
If you live close enough, try making at least one weekly shopping trip on foot or by bike. It's good for our environment, good for your health and good for your local community.
