Greendex 2009: Consumer Choice and the Environment - A Worldwide Tracking Survey
National Geographic conducted its inaugural Greendex survey in January 2008. At the time, the economy was strong, although growth was beginning to slow. Countries like India and China had recently experienced unprecedented prosperity. New wealth was being created and the middle class was growing. Meanwhile, the environment had recently been polling at unprecedented levels as an issue of public concern. Climate change and global warming had become household concepts as consumers' knowledge improved.

Climate Confidence Monitor 2008
HSBC’s Climate Confidence Monitor 2008 shows the results of a survey of 12,000 people across 12 markets worldwide. Forty three per cent of those surveyed chose climate change ahead of global economic stability when asked about their top three concerns, despite the survey taking place in the midst of the financial market turmoil in September-October 2008.

World Wide Views on Global Warming

This report presents a few highlights from the results of the World Wide Views (WWViews) on Global Warming - the first global citizen consultation in history. About 4,400 citizens 38 countries across the world participated in the survey from. The results of this amazing survey show that 90% of the citizens who participated in WWViews find it URGENT to make a global climate deal at COP15 in Copenhagen later this year.

China is the world’s biggest producer and consumer of coal but every step in the process of using coal, from mining through to combustion, is wreaking severe damage to China’s environment.
