Earth Hour 2010

Earth_Hour_CMYK_sm_TM_LR.jpgEarth Hour is here again! At 8:30pm Saturday 27 March in cities and towns all over the world will go dark for an hour. Millions of Australians took part in previous Earth Hours – it is a great way to show that you care about the planet.

Schools are encouraged to sign up, at www.earthhour.org.au  – use both forms to make sure the name of your school is recorded. On the website there are lots of tips, logos, posters and buttons for the web to download, including a schools kit full of worksheets and exercises.  Check it all out at: http://www.earthhour.org.au/what-you-can-do/.

For kids, there is a place to make a “virtual” lantern, which gives them a customised picture to use - http://www.earthhour.org.au/what-you-can-do/artwork-and-downloads/make-a-lantern.

We’re hoping that communities large and small around Australia will once again join in this great event, and make a strong statement that they are indeed concerned about our environment and want to take some action. This year Earth Hour is a time to think about all the other things that hurt or help our environmental impact. There’s something everyone can do beyond the hour of darkness – Earth Hour is time to think about what little or big things they can do. Together, we can all make a difference.
