Banksia Awards 2010

banksia-awards-logo.jpgThe Banksia Awards 2010 - Australia’s most well respected environmental awards programme is looking for a new set of heroes to champion – Enter to get Recognised.

The Banksia Awards were established by the Banksia Foundation in 1989 to give recognition to the individuals and organisations who are leading us to a more sustainable future. In the twenty two years since the first round of Awards, the Banksia Foundation has honoured everything from Earth Hour to the Carpentaria Ghost Nets Programme (saving sea turtles and other marine life from the being entangled in drifting fishing nets) to the Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses (the fifth-generation, family-owned bakery chain who’s innovative new bakery incorporates tricks such as using waste-heat from the refrigeration system to preheat all the water needed for cake production).

The Banksia Awards showcase Australia’s best initiatives in tackling environmental and sustainability issues in innovative and inspiring ways. If you’re involved in the push to change attitudes and forge a more sustainable future, then you or your organisation, business, Government body or community group then you should be entering the 2010 Banksia Awards.
