Enviroweek 2010 - Day 1

banner-260x210px.jpgEnviroweek is an annual, week long celebration of our environment that highlights the challenges we are all facing to preserve it. In the lead up to Enviroweek participants sign up to take on a challenge. This is a challenge that is good for our environment and is actually challenging.

You don’t need to be a greenie to be green. It just makes good sense to take care of our life support system – our environment. It’s not about sacrifice – it’s about living smarter. Who wants to breathe foul air, swim in polluted water, and live on a poisoned planet? This is your chance to make a world of difference.

During Enviroweek these normally modest Clark Kent environmentalists, become Green Heroes, and a source of inspiration for us all and a beacon of hope for our environment.

To become a Green Hero you register to take on a challenge, get sponsored by your friends and fundraise for your favourite environmental organisation. It’s that simple.

Enviroweek began in 2009 with around 200 people taking on an environmental challenge. These Green Heroes were sponsored by around 1000 of their mates raising more than $58,000 for environmental organisations around Australia.

It’s all about taking on a challenge that suits you, changing your behaviour during Enviroweek and getting into good habits for the rest of the year.
